黑料正能量鈥檚 recognized this year鈥檚 CyberCorps Scholarship for Service scholarship awardees earlier this month in a ceremony held at the . 

Established in 2000 and part of the Department of Defense, the is backed by a $3.2 million grant. This scholarship provides students with essential resources to advance their cybersecurity education at both undergraduate and graduate levels. 

鈥淭his program equips the next generation of cybersecurity professionals,鈥� said Michael Nowatkowski, PhD, director of AU鈥檚 and leading principal investigator of the Scholarship for Service Program. 鈥淚t鈥檚 an honor to recognize a dedicated group of students every year. The program is highly competitive, and this year鈥檚 recipients are eager to experience the boundless opportunities it offers.鈥�  

Recipients benefit from stipends for professional certifications, travel coverage for conferences and other events, access to in-person and virtual job fairs, and hands-on experience through a government service requirement after graduation. 

Scholars are also paired with faculty mentors, participate in community events like and collaborate on research projects, enhancing both their learning and professional networks. 

Jasen Magee, a first-year graduate student majoring in , expressed his gratitude and optimism for the program.  

鈥淪cholarship for Service means so much to me because it is the main reason why I’m able to pursue my master’s degree. Without the program, I wouldn’t be in school right now,鈥� Magee said. 鈥淚’m so grateful for my friends for telling me about this program, and Dr. Nowatkowski has been attentive to the whole new cohort of students since we鈥檝e been here. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my collegiate studies in the program and to see where I’m at by the end of it.鈥�
